Karap pongali(Pulagum)

Pongal(Pulagum) is called as harvest food,usually in South part of India On harvest month it means on 'Sankranthi' Pongal is the main Dish.Tirumala Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple serves the best pongal.Here is Recipe.....



Ingredients:
1cup - Rice
1/2 cup - Yellow Moong Dal/Pesarappau
1/2 Tbsp - Black Pepper/Miriyalu
1/2 Tbsp - Cumin/Jeera
2 Tbsp - Ghee
3 Green chillies
1/2 Cup Cashews
1/2 Tbsp - Jaggery(Grated)
Mustards seeds
Quarter Cup Milk
Salt
Oil

Method:
Fry the moongal dal to the golden colour on medium flame,keep it aside

All together Pressure cook the Rice,roasted moongdal,milk and jaggery

Now take deep bottomed pan add ghee,mustard seeds,cumin seeds,Slitted green chilles and cashew nuts fry till cashews turn to golden colour ,now pour the cooked rice and moongdal add Quarter cup water,stir it properly,then sprinkle the blended black pepper,salt and ghee.

Usually we will have this pongal with Tomato pachi pulusu are coconut chutney taste very good
