Bendakaya Pulusu / Okra in Tomato sauce


Ingredients:

10 or 12 - Okra(Bendakaya)
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Cilantro
Hing
1 Large - onion
1 Large - Tomato
Turmeric - Pinch
Rice flour - 2Tbsp
Red chilli powder
Sambhar powder - 1 Tbsp
salt
Tamarind - Lemon Size

METHOD

Soak the tamarind and extract pulp.

Chop the onion and the Tomato.Cut the okra into 1 inch pieces.

Heat oil and add mustard seeds and hing when mustards start crackling add chopped onion and Tomato

Let it fry till onions turns translucent. Add curry leaves.Now add Okra,Pinch Turmeric,Smabar powder,tamarind pulp and glass water .Boil until the okra is cooked. Simmer on a slow fire for 10 minutes.

To thicken the gravy in quarter cup water mix the rice flour and pour this to the gravy

Finally add chille powder,salt according to your taste.Goes well with steamed rice are chapathi
