Mamidikaya Pappu/ Raw mango dal



My Grand Mother is expert in preparing Mango Dal.She is the queen in preparing this Dal in our family.I tried this Mango dal so many times but today it was really tasty...here goes my style of prepartion.

Ingredients:

Raw mango - 1 (Medium)
Toor Dal - 1 Cup
Oil - 2 tsp
Onion & Tomato - 1 (Medium)
1Tbsp - Mustard seeds (Avalu)
1 tsp - Cumin Seeds (Jeelakara)
pinch - Hing(Inguva)
Pinch - Turmeric powder
Salt
Red chilles powder
Curry leaves

Method:

Wash dal and cook it.

Cut the raw mango into small cubes and keep it aside.

Heat oil in a pan and put a pinch of asafoetida,Mustard seeds and cumin seeds,once mustards starting spluttering add chopped onion and Tomato,fry till onion turns golden colour

Then add mango cubes, turmeric powder,Chilli powder and salt, cover it with a lid and let it cook for 5 mins.When the mango cubes become tender, add cooked dal to it and mix well.Add curry leaves.........thats all

Serve with ghee, rice and Butter milk chillies
